The little girl looked about frantically, tears pooling up on her long dark eyelashes. Her soft pale lips trembled; why was it now that she was afraid of Heartless when she so desperately needed to be brave, like she'd been just the night before? It was like after she'd gotten a taste of the love and protection that she'd been missing when she was with her big brother, now she felt much smaller and less significant in her courage without him. I shouldn't have wandered off. I'm sorry, Nathan. Please don't get hurt. Please don't lose your heart for me... The man in her thoughts suddenly shot out into the open with a cry of fear for her, the sun blazing on his form, and Linai watched, suddenly stunned with awe.
He began to fight off the many Heartless that had surrounded her, and she could do nothing but watch him, slowly feeling her fears ebb away and her strength return to her, maybe even more strongly than before. He was so young, but so powerful, and the way he launched himself into the fray, powerful and fearless, inspired her own courage. Still, she watched every skillful move he made, one swift swing and practiced step after the next, the Heartless dissipating into thin air, but their numbers - as the fight continued - growing more, and the individual creatures becoming more fierce. They wanted to take these hearts - the innocent heart which the child bore and the strong heart of courage and loyalty that the man carried inside him.
Linai watched as he spun; he had the grace of a dancer, the quickness of wind, and the strength of something that Linai couldn't comprehend, and that strength was fueled by the desire in his heart to protect her. When that sudden attack had completed, his eyes flickered past hers and his back faced towards her. She blinked, surprised and fascinated by his strength and power; did she have something that drove her to behave so fiercely in the face of battle? What did she fight for? Did she even fight? Nathan's sword was held near to her, protecting her from the crowd of Heartless that were plotting hers and Nathan's deaths without words; Linai stared up at her brother, her protector, with her big eyes. The sun threatened to blind her, but his tall frame glowed in the sunshine and shadowed her face.
He murmured her name and brought her attention back to the situation at hand; she glanced around at the Heartless who were growing restless, and Nathan asked if she was alright. She nodded, for a moment unable to speak, and then she replied in a voice that started a bit shaky and grew quickly stronger, "I-I'm fine, Nathan... thank you. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have wandered off..." He turned to glance back at her, and she gazed up into his slate gray eyes with her deep brown ones, and she felt strength instantly flow back into her. A spark of defiance glowed in her eyes, and she pulled out another of her darts in the other hand, ready to fight. "Please stay close, I'ma try'n get us out of here." She nodded, turning so that her back faced his. She was going to fight, too.

Nathan's head turn to see Linai's big brown eyes, it was amazing almost as if she was getting courage from him. He hid a smirk from him as she placed her back against his. They were gonna fight as a team and truthfully it seemed like she was ready too. As the heartless creeped closer and closer around them, Nathan would focus on his sword skills, quicker and shaper he would think to himself. In his head he three objectives to concentrate on right now were, Protecting Linai, Crushing the Heartless, and Strengthing himself. With the bell in his head ringing he sounded off the confrontation by lunging towards them. A heartless jumped out from the crowd, quickly being handle by Nathan. Soon afterwards hoards of three and four jumped out. Nathan use as little energy for each and continued onward. He kept himself close to Linai always being sure not to separate the two.
His body did small jumps to take out the heartless leaping above the grounded ones and while coming back down he would handle the ones of the ground as well. It was becoming increasingly aggravating that so many had come from nowhere. As he fought he spotted a couple of them in midair. He jumped in the air , feeling like he had freeze framed in the center of them. His face full of the furious expression of combat "ARGHHHH!!!"The boy's body spun around and sliced precisely taking out the heartless in the air, they smoky remains whisked away with the blowing of the wind. He landed breathing as if he had taken a mild jog. As the heartless crawled around him like the vultures they were, he turned his eyes towards Linai checking to see if she was ok.

Linai didn't let her new confidence with Nathan's presence distract her from the dangerous Shadows that threatened to overpower them and consume the precious thing that kept them alive. Linai had lost her parents to the Heartless; she wouldn't lose herself. She held the end of the dart tight in her little fists, glowering at the sea of darkness around them. It was a stare down for a short time - mental preparation. Linai knew that she'd fight with all her strength and all of her heart just to stay alive, and she knew that Nathan would do the same. She was happy she had such a brilliant fighter to partner herself with; she could never imagine what she would do in this fight without someone else. She'd never faced this many enemies at a time before. She was scared, but Nathan would help her. She'd do amazing!
It was as though the starting gates had shot open; Nathan and Linai shot off with their attacks, and immediately two darts flew from Linai's hands and hit the targets right on the mark. The Heartless, pierced by the sharp little dagger-like objects, fizzled away into nothingness, their hisses of rage being cut off. Skillfully trained in her weapon-throwing abilities, she pulled out two new darts, on in each hand, and she threw them at another pair of Heartless. What was unfortunate about her attacks was that she could only take out two at a time. What was fortunate was that she rarely missed her target since she'd been shooting at targets for so long. She could load and fire and re-load quickly, but she couldn't kill many. Sometimes, in an ambush attack such as now, she had to use the weapons like claws.
She pulled several out of her holster and held them between her knuckles, and then she punched rather skillfully at the Heartless that began to draw nearer. One by one the Heartless faded away, and they were replaced one by one with more. The Shadows always traveled in huge clusters like this; they were sort of like an endurance fight, but you would never know when the end was coming and if you lost then you didn't just lose - you lost your life, your heart, and everything you loved. She fought for several minutes, glancing occasionally at Nathan; he seemed to be doing well on his end, but that didn't surprise her. However, she was amazed by the next move she saw; for a second, the world seemed to go in slow motion. Nathan rose into the air, sword in hand, face dark in the heat of battle. She watched, fascinated, and with her lapse of attention, a Heartless threw itself onto her feet and began to drag her into the crowd.
She clawed at the grass, a yelp escaping her as the darts fell from her hands. She kicked her legs fiercely, but more continued to pile on top of her, and she screamed and began to writhe harder. She refused to be taken down by a stupid sneak attack! It wasn't fair! One foot was suddenly free and she kicked at the Heartless that were grasping her other foot. They drew back with a hiss of protest, and a soft whine escape Linai as a bit of blood oozed out of several long scratches down her legs. She forced herself to her feet, her eyes brimming with pain, but a bit more ferocity glowing in her eyes. She snarled at the crowd of Shadows, "I'm not gonna lose!" She snatched the darts from the ground, placing some into the holster and keeping others to continue shooting the projectiles at her enemies. She hoped Nathan didn't worry too much about her.

Nathan continued on to fight, his resolve was strong, and his want to protect Linai stronger. The swarm of heartless continued to rush him and he continued to put them down, His swordplay was on par with his dojos master, or his grandfather. In other words, he was quite skilled for his age. His eyes gazed towards her, and for moment he seen her slip up. Nathan's grey eyes widen in worry as he prepared to brush aside one of the heartless and hurry towards her. But he was a little to hasty she quickly got back on her feet and begin to fight them off. She was strong and he didn't want her to be caught off guard again. Suddenly a heartless jumped out towards him and he sliced down on it hard ( Linai please be careful will you?) Nathan focused back on the heartless.

And so the fight went on. Though she stood so tenderly on both of her feet which were already sore and stained with blood, her foundation was truly firm, and she would not be taken from her stance again. For a moment, fear pulsed through her. What could she do if she ran out of darts? She'd have to run through the crowd and snatch up the darts from the ground, or else just go with hand to hand combat. These Heartless were almost half her size, though, and she wasn't sure if she could take them that way. She looked around whenever she had a chance, hoping to see the numbers dwindle, but as far as she could tell, it had only gotten worse from when the battle had started. The entire castle grounds - front and back - were swarming with Heartless. What were they after? What had brought them here? The battle went on, though it seemed hopeless to her. Still, what would she do if she never got to see her mother and father again? No. She'd fight.
One dart after another, Linai fought, and though the Heartless kept dying, they kept coming. Linai stomped the grass, frustrated, and she whined, "Nathan, why are there so many? I'm running out of stuff to throw." A Heartless threw itself at her and she rolled onto her back, thrusting her foot up into its hard chest, a hollow thud sounding before it flew back into the crowd and faded away with a feral snarl. She stood quickly, biting her lip to keep from crying out in pain as the injury in her ankles throbbed, and the Shadows came closer, but she threw what was left of her darts at them in an attempt to hold them off. There was nowhere to run, but how else would they survive? There were obviously too many. Suddenly, however, Linai began to notice that the tiny Heartless were backing off. They were fading away, creeping back into the Darkness of their own accord, as though they saw that this wasn't a battle that they could win. Many, however, remained to fight, and Linai did what she could, kicking and punching those that she could.

Nathan couldn't believe the sheer number of them, it was increasingly becoming difficult to fight them off ( This is insane. Linai and I can't hold them off for too long. This hoard is unusually persistent.)Nathan slid flowingly towards a crowd of heartless slashing a pair of heartless in half and counter spinning to slash a couple of others in the current area. Once done he did a quick sidestep over towards Linai, the heartless was easy enough to kill but it was becoming exhausting. Nathan dashed towards a heartless and with a stroke of his hand across the back of his blade sent a shock wave towards a wide range of heartless, leaving a wide area open. Hearing Lina's cry he couldn't help but answer even though he was in confrontation with another heartless that jump from a different angle, " It has to be a source of light somewhere, irritating them. " He back up towards Linai's position, this was beginning to seem like that time in his dream. Surrounded by the darkness, only certain weapons could defeat darkness on this level. He stepped beside Linai looking a little desperate for some way out. Nathan placed the SunSet Ender away and held both hands open to his side (Please light..Give me something to protect this girl. I need them now...My Memories...) The images of flowing light begin to appear in one hand and stretch out and the images of purple mosaic glass, clicking together like a puzzle to form a blade begin to appear in the other. They both held a certain glow to them that seem to be enveloping Nathan on both sides. The two eventually formed into his keyblades the Rising Angel and Calm Storm. The unusual blades had finally appeared again and this time it wasn't a dream. He lifted both of them in the air, before twirling them skillful and pointing one towards the leftover heartless , letting the other fall to his side " I wonder, what they'll do to them." It was a mumble and barely hear able by anyone. His light has finally been forge into a weapon.

It seemed an endless cycle to Linai; if you killed one, another would appear, and if you killed two then three would replace it. Maybe it was just that Linai was getting tired so fast that she was hallucinating, but it did almost seem like the crowd was growing a bit more sparse. Of course, her muscles - which she'd not used to fight in a long time - were hot with use and pain, screaming at her to stop and just run away or succumb to the Darkness, neither of which she was willing to do. So, like Nathan, she continued to fight, silently hoping and praying and begging that something would happen so that she and Nathan would be safe and she could just close her eyes and pretend she hadn't wandered off and put herself and Nathan in danger. This was just horrible. She fought as well as she could, but her ankles were beginning to tremble. She was at the verge of collapsing. Nathan told her that a source of light must be nearby, attracting them and keeping them at their peak of swarming.
Suddenly Linai found herself back-to-back again with Nathan; the Heartless had them herded up like little lambs, trapped, and now they were just sitting there, hissing, snarling, swaying back and forth, just frightening and intimidating them and daring them to make a move. Tears swelled up in Linai's eyes, but she made an attempt to be strong. Still, for a moment, she swore she could see desperation in Nathan's eyes when she glanced back at him. That wasn't something that she wanted to see. She quickly returned her gaze to the hoarde of Heartless, taking even less comfort in their fluorescent eyes. She paid no attention to his next movement, but then light from some strange source began to shine behind her; before she knew it, Nathan held in his hands two new weapons. Linai had no idea where they'd come from - he hadn't had them when she'd last looked at him. What were they? She'd never seen weapons like that before... At first, he seemed confused, but then a resolute look spread over his face and he twirled the swords as if he'd had them all his life, pointing one threateningly at the crowd. Linai waited for him to move; what else could she do?
