APPEARANCE: Thorton can be described as small and frail. He's pale and skinny, while at the same time, short. This makes him very weak when defending himself, which is why he hides behind the strength of his inventions and Pokemon. His hair is a two-toned mess, with matching green eyes that are always only half-lidded, making him appear unalert.
His wardrobe is unique, as it doesn't have one style or origin. It consists of the classic button up white shirt, and black vest, made casual by the lack of a blazer. They're accompanied by a turquoise neck tie, cargo shorts, and work boots over white... stockings? That's right. It's true. But of course, his look wouldn't be complete without the holster slung around his hips that houses his self-invented data analyzer, which is used so often, he hardly needs to think for himself anymore.
PERSONALITY: Thorton's personality is quite limited. He can be talkative, but at the same time, he expresses no real emotion behind his words.
He has always been extremely intelligent for his age, and many are so bold as to call him a genius. Most of the technology he uses are built and programmed by his own hands. Since he takes up so much space with his work, he's absolutely obsessed with keeping the Battle Factory and everything else around him clean. It's safe to say that he has OCD tendencies.
He's so used to staying inside working, that he doesn't take likely to being around other people, and his physical being has been affected.
He enjoys nothing more than to analyze data and statistics. When he battles another trainer, he consults his data analyzer, and declares a percentage. This is the chance the other trainer has of defeating him, determined by the Pokemon they bring with them to use. If he loses, he is understandably (but not visibly) upset, because neither the numbers, or his strategy worked out in his favor. He considers each loss a lesson to be learned, and applies it to his research to avoid another loss.
HISTORY: When you're growing up as a Pokemon trainer in Sinnoh, you need to be tough, and that's just something that Thorton never was...
While he was well educated, he could never hold his own. Years ago, when his family stopped showing interest in raising the boy, he decided to start his own adventure, but with absolutely no companionship. With no Pokemon of his own, he couldn't battle, or catch any others.
He often joined contests and tournaments that would lend out Pokemon to contestants held in various towns for money. He always came out as the winner by outsmarting the others. Eventually, it was suggested that since he was so strategic, that he should apply for a Gym Leader position. He liked the idea, so he took a trip to the Pokemon League of Sinnoh, where he was unfortunately turned down, for not owning his own Pokemon, but using rentals instead. Distraught, and far from home, he took the boat soonest to leave for the Battle Zone, northeast of the League, where he would stay in the Resort Area for a while. He considered it a much needed break. While making his way through the outskirts of the Fight Area, he met a man who said that he had heard about Thorton in a local Pokemon Center. He had heard about all of the contests Thorton had won, and how his genius had brought him to the top, but he did not own any Pokemon. The man asked him a few questions about his skills, and his traveling, much like an interview, and then he said, "My name is Palmer, and I would like to expand my lone Battle Tower to create a whole Frontier. I want a trainer of your caliber to join me."
An unfamiliar to him excitement overwhelmed Thorton, and he promptly agreed. He spent the next few months with only Palmer, planning their Battle Frontier. Thorton decided on a factory theme, where everything was clean, and high-tech. Things ran on conveyor belts, and he hired a few scientists for assistance and company.
What happened to his Pokemon situation, you ask?
He received a generous gift of an Electivire from Palmer. Everytime Thorton went out, he would train with Electivire, and use it's strength to capture many other Pokemon, that were later used for rentals in the Battle Factory.
All went well for only a few years. More talented trainers were added to the Frontier; the princess, the diva, the star... And there were plenty of formidable challengers that followed. Until things started to go awry. A lot of people started to become dark and sluggish, or would disappear all together. His paranoia took over, and Thorton took a few safety measures, one of which was hiding out in a self-constructed vessel once he noticed the changes that were taking place on land. Once the world itself had started to disintegrate, he took shelter for days, never to come out.
Once he did arise, he was no longer in the Sinnoh Region, in fact, he had no idea where he could be. There were no such things as Pokemon (with the exception of Electivire that never left his side), as many ordinary creatures such as cats and dogs passed him by.
He legitimately felt guilty for not making sure that Palmer had stayed with him during his time of hiding, but at the time, Thorton was afraid to be around anybody, as he was afraid that what he had seen of the Darkness was contagious. But he often thought to himself that if any of the other Frontier Brains were strong enough to make it out of this, that it had to be Palmer.
So he has to be out there... Somewhere.

But that's the price of one more lesson learned.[/color]
It was a brisk and snowy night in Sinnoh, one of very few. There were few challengers or travelers, for they had all retired to stay out of the way of the whiteout.
Thorton, dressed in nothing more than usual, say for a new scarf, was on his way back to his own home. On the days, that also don't come sparingly, where he actually wants to go outside and do some exploring, he usually
tangos with bad weather, and ends up getting rained or snowed on. He sighed and brushed some of the fluff from his shoulders.
When he approached the fountain central to the Frontier, he squinted through the snow, and realized that he wasn't completely alone. There was one girl sitting upon the chilled statue, and from what Thorton was able to make out, she needed to be inside.
"What are you still doing out here?" He asked her lowly.
She jumped, surprised to have company, and quickly brushed off a few tears that he hadn't noticed previously. Thorton's suspicions were true, she was quite frail. Her hair was grey, her skin was white... He honestly didn't know if she were warmer than him in the black leather jacket clingling to her torso, or if she were colder than him because she was much weaker than himself.
"I was just leaving..." She whispered, "I'm going back to Veilstone, and I'm not coming back."
"Just how long have you been here for? I know you haven't taken all of the challenges, because I've never seen you. So, why?" Thorton asked in wonder. Wonder, because he had apparently not come out in long enough to know there were regulars to the Frontier that he knew nothing about.
She stood and shrugged, "Some times things get complicated."
After that, it only took a few steps for her to vanish into the flurry.
"How... cryptic." Thorton muttered to himself while tracking in the opposite direction.
