Show me how to lie You’re getting better all the time And turning all against the one Is an art that’s hard to teach * * * * * * * *An irritated sigh escaped through his parted lips as the tiny goat-man attempted to usher him in to the training arena for the umpteenth time. Honestly, this guy didn’t know when to call it quits! Kaito wasn’t much of a fighter, in fact, he chose to stay as far away from confrontation as humanly possible! No way was he going to purposely go and fight his way through an arena full of—what were those things called again? Heart Munchers? No Hearts? Heartless?—right, those Heartless! He was more of a pacifist, granted he was often an instigator of arguments and what have you so many a better title for him would be an instigating pacifist. Afterall, he was a much sought after thief where he came from, all those years of instigating and playing around with the police hadn’t taught him any respect for authority.
“Hey, uh, furry little guy, are you deaf? I’m not much of a fighter so why don’t you stop wasting both of our time and go find someone who can actually help you out with your Heartless problem, yeah?” So maybe he was a little rude, but you couldn’t exactly blame him! That persistent little goat man just wouldn’t leave him alone!
Kaito was lost—that was the understatement of the century! The high school student frowned, placing a hand on his hip and surveying the land around him—there wasn’t much. All he wanted was to go home, back to his own world, and live the life that he’d gotten so used to living. Fate obviously had different plans for him however, what with getting swallowed into the darkness and spat out in some world by the name of Traverse Town from which he had been wandering ever since. Who knew that there were so many inhabitable worlds out there? He certainly didn’t.
Marching away from Philoctetes he began to pace in the sandy entrance in front of the coliseum.
“What to do, what to do…” He was at a loss for what to do, no matter where he went nobody seemed to know anything about the world that he had come from. It felt like a lost cause but he refused to give up. He still had a score to settle with those guys in black [not the organization xD] who were responsible for the death of his father—the former Kaitou K.I.D. * * * * * * * * Another clever word Sets off an unsuspecting herd And as you step back into line A mob jumps to their feet

Despite being a rather brave man, the werewolf was rather cautious about this unfamiliar world he was in. Still angered at the recent event that led him here, Dane wanted to find that witch and strangle her until she met his demands of getting his son back, and sending them both home. The only problem was, it was doubtful that a villan would be dumb enough to appear a few moments later, especially since the witch had complete control on those black creatures. Obviously, Dane figured she was probably rather powerful, especially since she could even create portals. Then again, Dane wasn't too familiar with magic, being more or less a physical powerhouse.
He had spotted soon after two other people, who seemed to be arguing over something. One was a human high schooler, and the other, a much, much shorter goat man. Dane didn't bother much with them, although since nobody else was around, and he was some distance away, the werewolf could here some parts of it. What intrigued him the most though, was the mention of the word 'Heartless'. It was unfamiliar to Dane, but for some reason, it did seem rather important, so he kept it in the back of his mind for now. He had to figure out what he was doing to do, aside from worrying constantly about his son. Although Dane knew his kid wasn't a fighter, and scared of pretty much everyone and everything he met, the wolf man knew the kid could take care of himself to some extent. This made the werewolf relax a little.
His arms folded over his massive chest, Dane had turned his back towards the two conversing, and began to walk around, observing his surroundings. Obviously, there wasn't much that would be used as a decent spot to plan an ambush, and the empty grounds would have made it a straight on battle. At least, if Dane had to fight again. It didn't bother him whether or not he fought, as long as he could make ends meet in the end. Turning his head to look, he noticed that the high school kid seemed to be pacing around the entrance now. At first, the werewolf ignored him, and continued to look around. A thought occurred to him however, in that perhaps this boy knew where they were.
Seeing as how he would have no choice, the werewolf turned his body, and walked towards the boy. Once he was close enough, it was about time he made his presence known. Whether or not he scared the kid wasn't really in his control, but opened his mouth to speak anyways, "Hey kid. Ah know this may seem like a dumb question, but do ya know what this place is?"

Show me how to lie You’re getting better all the time And turning all against the one Is an art that’s hard to teach * * * * * * * * In his distracted state he failed to notice the large figure making its way towards him until it stood before him, casting a long shadow against the grainy sand and tower several feet over the high schooler’s head. Kaito was mumbling silent curses to himself when the shadow draped over him and he sensed that he wasn’t alone anymore, stopping in his pacing he looked up at the furry figure, having to crane his neck to see the werewolf’s face. Never in his life had he seen a being quite like this—it was a little overwhelming and not to mention terrifying!
Stumbling back a few paces he swiftly reached for his gun—not a real gun, Kaito didn’t believe in violence or killing—it was loaded with thin metal play cards that shot out at high speed. It could leave a pretty little injury but that was all it could do, unless aimed at the correct angle—which he’d never do, but if he needed to defend himself against this creature he would, at least stall it long enough before he could use a little illusionary magic and escape through a smokescreen of some sort.
He was expecting the tall being to lunge at him, gnash its teeth, attack him or something! What completely took him by surprise was when it opened its mouth and spoke! Shakily lowering his card gun Kaito tilted his head to the side a little and quirked a brow at the tall man-wolf.
“Er. Not exactly, I mean that little goat guy did mention something about a coliseum but that’s the extent of my knowledge about this place.” He sighed, annoyed, “I’m just as lost as you seem to be.”

He wasn't exactly surprised that the kid took out a weapon of sorts, although it did sort of annoy the wolf man at the same time. Since it was required on his homeworld for people under legal adult age to have a permit to even use a weapon, Dane wasn't exactly used to the idea of some high school kid aiming a gun at him without the proper permission. Still, he figured out more or less that things really weren't going to be the same on other worlds, since at this point it was clear that this place was nowhere on Lunar Epsilon, his homeworld. Dane knew that the witch wasn't making things up when she mentioned other worlds before, so at least something good came out of that.
The tension lowered when he saw the kid put away his gun. Noticing the shakey movements, Dane sighed, although listened to the boy's response. It seemed as though he would just have to continue searching around this area. Although the fact that this place was a coliseum did help some. The werewolf was content with that for the moment, although he wasn't finished talking with this boy yet. Perhaps it was his upbringing, but Dane felt the need to get things straight, "Awright, first off, I ain't gonna hurt ya unless yew do somethin' ter tick me off. Ya clear on that? So just calm yerself down." Sighing again, he paused to think about what he was going to do. Taking his eyes off the boy for a moment, he looked around the area again for a moment.
It was then that he looked back down at the kid, having figured out how to go through with this. Seeing as how this kid was as lost as he was, it would only make sense to help him out, despite the fact that Dane, in reality, wanted nothing more to do with this kid. "Anyways, this is what we're gonna do. We're gonna see if this goat runt has somethin' else ter say. Come on.", the werewolf told him, although had some authority in his voice. Hoping that the boy would follow him, Dane unfolded his arms for a moment, and headed towards where he saw the two conversing before. Obviously, this goat man must have been inside.

Show me how to lie You’re getting better all the time And turning all against the one Is an art that’s hard to teach * * * * * * * * Kaito let out a breath that he hadn’t even been aware that he had been holding when the wolf-man admitted to being friendly—unless provoked. That was good to hear, Kuroba Kaito would certainly keep that in mind, he didn’t want to get torn to shreds before he was able to return to his home world.
He returned his card gun to its previous holding place and stared up at the man before him once again. It was so bizarre, back in his home world beings like the man before him—and even that obnoxious goat man—were creatures of myth and legend, bedtime stories that parents entertained their children with. They weren’t supposed to exist. But the living proof of their existence stood before him—all around him even! Kaito had learned a long time ago to look at things through the eyes of a believer but to also remember that not everything was the way it appeared—illusions and magic played a big part in his life even as a child. He was responsible for making the illogical seem logical. As illogical as the thought of heart stealing monsters and the existence of other inhabitable worlds seemed…he just couldn’t find the logic in that—how had all of this missed the radar of NASA and all those other scientific organizations of his world? Perhaps they weren’t as competent as everyone thought them to be…
“Right, well I can’t guarantee that I won’t piss you off—I have a habit of doing that.” Well, at least he was honest, “But I won’t hurt you if you don’t hurt me. I’m not exactly a fan of violence, hate it in fact, I’m more of a pacifist.”
The shaggy haired thief was mildly surprised when the wolf-man included him in on his plan to wrestle out some more info from that Phil guy. But that also met that he’d have to see that obnoxious little runt again—how bothersome. Shrugging, figuring he had nothing else to do, Kaito followed after Dane, “Sounds good to me, the sooner we figure out where we are the soon we can ge the hell out of here.”

So on the upside, the two of them were on terms when it came to angering each other. Although the fact remained that this kid couldn't promise not to all the time. Dane sighed at this, but couldn't complain. Since the kid didn't seem to like fighting, as he stated, that would probably help somewhat. The werewolf was content with this, and left it be. What also helped was the fact that this boy agreed to follow him back towards the goat-man, who was probably inside the place by now. However, his upbringing showed again, and as he walked, Dane looked back at the kid, "Before ah forgit, watch yer mouth boy." Perhaps that was rather useless, but he couldn't exactly help himself.
Before long, Dane had reached the doors where he remembered seeing the goat runt enter. He didn't bother knocking, since it wasn't as though it was a house, and just opened the door. It made it easier that the door was unlocked, and the werewolf went right in after it creaked open. Of course, he held it a little so the kid behind him could enter. That being all well and done, he focused his attention on the rather small room he had entered. It was rather bland, with a couple trophies and a large, stone block, with what appeared to be another entrance to somewhere directly from where he entered. However, there was one problem- the goat-man was nowhere to be found. Sighing once more, Dane became annoyed at this.
Still, he might as well could wait a few moments, and perhaps see if the guy would come back. With that, Dane folded his arms over his chest again, occasionally pacing around the room. Sure, there wasn't really anything of interest, but perhaps he could find something to help him out. His gaze though, eventually turned back towards the kid with him. For the sake of making things easiers, the werewolf asked, "By the way, what's yer name, kid?"

Show me how to lie You’re getting better all the time And turning all against the one Is an art that’s hard to teach * * * * * * * * Kaito began to follow the tall man-wolf towards the entrance of the giant Greek building before them, hastily stumbling over his feet and halting when the man glanced back at him and spoke once again. A mischievous smirk tugged at the corners of his lips, he’d learn in time that it wasn’t a very likely scenario to suggest that Kuroba Kaito keep his mouth shut. He liked to hear his own voice. “Sure thing, pops.” He winked, “Though it is physically impossible for one to watch their mouth, you can’t exactly pop your eyes out of your sockets to have them watch over your other facial orifices.” He couldn’t pass up being a smart-ass, it wasn’t in his nature to pass up such opportunities and the older man had certainly left himself wide open for such a comment.
His pace picked back up and he resumed in his stride, entering the sand-stone building and leaning casually against the wall next to the door. The goat-man wasn’t there, how disappointing. His bright sapphire eyes danced around the room, drinking in every detail of his surroundings. It was a rather dull room, nothing to look at but a few stone bowls of fire that helped light the room, some trophies that looked as if they were shined every hour on the hour, and a couple stone-stepping stools. How boring.
The boy’s attention flitted back to the man pacing the room, “The one and only, Kuroba Kaito.” He grinned, tilting his head to the side, “What about you, gramps?”

Apparently, this kid was more trouble than he was worth. Instantly did the boy give a smartass comment about the werewolf's warning before going in, knowing fully well that the kid was talking literally about watching his mouth just to piss off Dane himself. Despite a growl coming from his throat he had ignored this, since it was probably better to allow the kid to not have half his head bashed in. At this point it was too late to just yell at the kid and make him go away, since Dane brought it upon himself to allow him to follow. Now at the current time, the werewolf had asked for the boy's name, and of course, this kid, Kuroba Kaito, had called him 'gramps'. That definately didn't bode too well with the wolf man.
Growling again at this rather rude kid, the werewolf hesitated for a moment, and then replied, "Name's Dane Cahal, and fer yew it's either 'sir', or 'Mr. Cahal'. Yew got that?" His irritation was growing rather quickly, and the wolf man already was thinking that if he had raised this kid, no way in hell would Dane allow this disrespect go by easily. Before he could do anything more, however, something odd, yet familiar, had come into his sights. Turning his head towards the other entrance he had seen when he came into the room, a strange creature had ran into the room, although it looked rather confused, and it looked around. This Heartless of the Soldier kind looked between Dane and Kaito, unsure of what to do.
Nothing else was needed though, as the wolf man instantly growled upon the sight of it. Unfolding his arms, Dane turned and threateningly walked towards the Heartless, opening his mouth to speak, "One of yew has the nerve to show yerself ter me?! I ain't showin' mercy fer a worthless piece of..." At the moment, his attention was only on the creature, who jumped at the werewolf to attack him, but Dane reached out his right hand, and grabbed the Heartless before it could fully reach him. Granted the thing scratched at his arm, but the werewolf felt nothing. It would take more than this thing to cause any harm to Dane easily. Staring it down, the werewolf snarled at the Heartless, and in a fit of rage, squeezed his hand quickly around the creature, which was easily destroyed, leaving nothing more than a heart to appear and vanish soon after.
Killing the creature wasn't a big deal, since apparently, they couldn't talk, meaning no valuable information could come from it. Looking towards the other entrance for a while longer, a thought had occurred to him, and his attention returned back to Kaito. "Kuroba, yew know what these things are?", Dane asked, really demanding that the kid answered.

A mischievous smirk tugged playfully at his pale lips at the sound of irritation in Dane's voice. Kaito had a habit of getting under the skin of his elders, he wasn't very keen on following rules and orders and definitely had a knack for disobeying authority figures. It seemed as if the werewolf was having second thoughts about letting the young thief tag a long with him, he shrugged. Kaito couldn't help the fact that he liked to mess with others--oftentimes his childhood friend Aoko would accuse him of being in love with the sound of his voice, he certainly loved to talk.
"Yes, sir!" He mock saluted, a devious glint in his bright blue eyes as he stared up at the wolf-man. Kaito seemed to be warming up to the tall werewolf, if it weren't for the fact that he had been absolutely terrified of the man moments before, you would've thought that seeing a creature such as him was an everyday occurance for the high schooler!
His eyes narrowed at the appearance of the clanking soldier, he didn't know much about those Heartless creatures but what he did know was that they were bad news. His fingers twitched towards his card gun but he paused mid-reach as Dane leapt forward and tore in to the pesky creature. Swallowing the pooling of saliva in his mouth Kaito crossed his arms over his chest, his gaze lingering on the dissipating wisp of darkness from where the Heartless had once stood.
The brunette shook his head, "I know that they're called Heartless, but I really don't know much about them. We didn't have them where I came from..."

After having listened to the boy's response, the man sighed for a moment. This really wasn't getting anywhere, although it seemed like these Heartless, as Kaito had found them to be called, were foreign to more than just Dane's own homeworld. In a sense, it somewhat made things better knowing that it just wasn't his problem, since that way, he could perhaps get more information on the current issues at hand. Of course, it wasn't as though the werewolf planned on getting friendly with anyone he meets to an extent, since he felt that his own problem of finding his son was of utmost importance than anything. As far as the werewolf was concerned, this was his business, and nobody else's.
Onto the current situation at hand, there was still the factor of the other entrance that they had yet to go into. Without needing to think of what to do next, since there was no other option, Dane replied to Kaito, "A'ight, we're goin' further in. Don't be slackin', ya hear?" With that, the werewolf turned and headed off through the next entrance, without really thinking whether or not Kaito followed. Sure, the kid would've gotten an annoyed werewolf the next time Dane saw him, but on the upside, it would've been one less headache to deal with, no matter how small it really was in the end. Still, he couldn't doubt that Kaito had helped some at the moment.
Once through, it appeared that Dane had wandered into a battleground of sorts, with some long stairs on either side that could act as bleachers if necessary. Looking around, however, his prey, metaphorically of course, was in his sights. At the other end of the arena, the goat-man was apparently busy talking to a couple Heartless who, oddly, seemed rather creeped out by the runt. It made Dane raise an eyebrow, although since he didn't have eyebrows, something equivalent to that, and soon after, the Heartless, being nothing more than Shadows, vanished away. Strangely enough, the werewolf probably thought that to be a better idea for them.
In any case, the wolf man began to walk over towards Phil, as it was about time he got some answers. To gain some attention, Dane opened up his mouth and spoke, rather agitated, "OI! Ah need ter talk to ya!"

Show me how to lie You’re getting better all the time And turning all against the one Is an art that’s hard to teach * * * * * * * * Kaito watched the man’s expression carefully, following his line of sight as it landed on the other doorway that they had yet to explore. His lips quirked at the corners and his bright eyes lit up with an insatiable curiosity—he wanted to see what else this strange world had to offer! Dane didn’t have to tell him twice, the brunet was already more than willing to go further in despite the fact that it meant another headache from the weird goat-man.
“Oh, I wouldn’t dream of it.” He grinned, ‘slacking’ and ‘Kaito’ just didn’t go together. He was a man of action, always having to be out doing something—usually something extravagant to attain the attention that he craved. The thief thrived on the attention of his fans [and even those who weren’t his fan!] and always did whatever he could to be in the limelight. He didn’t get where he was today by slacking off and being lazy, it just didn’t work that way.
The two moved through the doorway and Kaito’s jaw dropped at the stadium that they had found themselves standing in. It resembled that of a Roman—or Greek—battle arena, like the ones that he had learned about in his World History class. It had been one of his favorite classes so he’d retained much of the information that had been driven into his head by his teacher.
“Wow, this place looks like some sort of arena—like where they stage fights and all that.” He mused before mumbling, “I hope we’re not expected to fight while we’re here…”
The smile dropped clear off his face at the sight of the goat-man not too far away, he could just feel his migraine starting to come back, slowly pulsing in his temple.
Phil turned around and jumped at the sight of Dane and was about to turn-tail and run when his eyes landed on Kaito. Figuring that the giant werewolf must’ve been, if not somewhat, friendly to be traveling with the boy he plastered on a giant grin and stepped forward.
“Need to talk to me? About fighting in today’s match? Great!”
