For the sake of nostalgia Kaito found himself donning his Phantom Thief KID costume and stealthily sneaking from rooftop to rooftop. How desperate did you have to be before you pretended that you were about to pull off the biggest heist of the century? Pretty damn desperate. Truth be told he actually missed Nakamori-keibu chasing him around the city with the rest of his squadron, he missed teasing the grown men about their failed attempts at capturing him and wishing them better luck next time.
He huffed a sigh of agitation--this definitely wasn't quite as fun as the real deal. For one, he was just bouncing from rooftop to rooftop with no real plan of action. Two, he had no real target in mind, and three, no one here even knew who he was to even be alarmed that he was prancing around the town! That certainly wasn't much fun! Kaito liked drawing in big crowds with his illusionary feats and basking in the attention that he so deserved. The high school thief didn't get any of that here--or in any of the worlds he had previously visited via Gummi Ship.
A playful smirk tugged at the corners of his lips, no matter, he'd make a name for himself in these new worlds before he found his way back home. Kaitou KID would not only be known for his trans-continental heists but also his romp around the universe! Ha, how great would that be? Major ego boost.
"Hmm, let's see, what've we got here, eh?" Kaito absently played with the clover hanging from his monocle before crouching low against the roof to get a better view at the person below. Minato was sitting back on a bench, jamming to the music that was flowing from his headphones. Thinking to himself how he ended up wherever he was. That last thing he remembered doing was sealing his soul to stop the Fall on humanity. He panicked for a short time earlier, but seeing that there was still life was a positive sign. Maybe things were okay, but that didn't settle the conflicted feelings inside of Minato.
He still had his evoker on him, which meant he could still summon his persona so he wasn't completely defenseless here. Granted not much was happening on this bench but Minato shrugged it off. Where was this place anyway? Looked like some Victorian-era city, nothing like what Japan had. Laying his head back and looking at the stars in the night sky. From the corner of his eye he saw a white top hat on the roof of the building behind him. "Is someone up there?' he asked himself.

It was strange the the town was oddly devoid of life--well, aside from those strange plush-like creatures that glided through the air muttering 'kupo' every other word. Kaito wasn't sure what the hell those things were but he'd run into at least one of them in every world he'd been to thus far and it was safe to say that while their appearance was quite comical, they were slightly scary as well.
Bright sapphire eyes zeroed in on movement from below and his stomach squirmed excitedly. Finally, maybe now he'd have something to do aside from skulking around the rooftops boredly! The teenage thief felt his lips quirk into a huge grin when the boy below spoke out. Hopping from the rooftop, Kaito landed behind the bench with a flourish of his cape.
"This is your lucky day, kid." He smirked arrogantly, gesturing towards himself with his thumb, "You get to meet the famous Kaitou KID. I know this is an emotionally overwhelming moment in your life so try to contain your excitement."

Minato watched as the young man jumped from the rooftop and landed in front of him. "Is this guy trying to act cool or something?" Minato thought to himself. The man flaunted his cape about and said this was Minato's lucky day. Lucky day? The luckiest thing about today was that nothing was bothering him for once. Well that has obviously changed now. He felt like he was in a manga as he closed his eyes and raised his hand in a high five fashion and said, "Yo," with one of those big beads of sweat on the back of his head. He hoped Kaito understood that Minato wasn't overflowing with excitement to be meeting him. Better than absolutely nobody, so he'd take what he could get.
"The famous Kaito Kid huh?" Minato said questionably. Resting his arms on the bench and bringing his left foot up and resting it on his right knee he seemed to be thinking. He stared at Kaito for a good thirty seconds before responding in a care free manner, "Nope, never heard of you." Even though he never heard of this guy before, Kaito seemed cool, in his own special way. "Well, my name's Minato Arisato. Unlike you, I'm not too famous. Saved the world once though," he said with a smile.
Minato reached into his pocket and pulled out a piece of gum, "So," he said before inserting the small, green, rectangle into his mouth,"What's your story? And better question, where are we right now?" Looking at one of the cute little heartless scurrying by he said, "Surely this isn't Earth." He patted the free space on the seat, as if gesturing for Kaito to take a seat.

Kaito faltered in his actions after observing his expression that clearly said that he couldn't careless who the hell Kaitou KID was. That was a shame, it truly was; back home he had half of Japan swooning and chanting his name while here he was basically a nobody. He certainly didn't like that, he thrived on attention and here he was--starving for the limelight. To be completely honest he really hadn't expected the kid to know who the famous Kaitou 1412 was but he had hoped...
"I can't exactly say that I'm surprised I guess," A small frowned tugged at his lips, "however, I assure you that back home my name is known all throughout Japan." That arrogant air around him was back and stronger than before, "Pretty soon, though, my name will be a household name all throughout this pretty little galaxy. Mark my words, Kaitou K.I.D is going universal." He brought his right leg up, bent at an angle, ontop of the bench, striking a pose of triumph.
Absently fiddling with the clover monocle resting over his right eye, Kaito unceremoniously plopped down on the bench next to the kid who had identified himself as Arisato Minato. He shrugged his shoulders casually, "Aside from being an internationally renowned jewel thief--I'm just a normal kid who happens to excell at everything I do," there was that cocky attitude once again, he simply couldn't help it though, it was in his nature, "I was on a heist, flying through the sky and then--I was..." His bright eyes took on a more thoughtful stare,"I was swallowed by this black...hole in the sky. And then I ended up here, it's strange, the people from my world, myself included, had never even dreamed that there were other planets out there with human life on them. This is all so crazy."
He shrugged his shoulders once again, readjusting his position on the bench so that he wasn't sitting on his cape--yanking it out from underneath himself to make it a little less uncomfortable. "According to the GPS system on that piece of shit ship that I bought we're in Traverse Town?" He snorted,"Somewhat of a fitting name, don't you think?"

Minato could tell this guy was an attention-whore, was he ADD? Maybe Minato would fancy the guy, "Oh, Japan? I'm from there," Minato smiled cheerfully. He made another thinking face before saying, "Wait a minute, I think I remember you now. You're the guy who's always going against that Kogoro guy." Incidentally, Minato may have never heard of Kid but he did hear of Detective Kogoro. He hoped this act would go along well as he crossed his fingers and hoped the two would go together. Thinking back to his old school maybe he should have participated in the Mystery Club as opposed to the Swimming Club. "Being a detective sure would have been fun," he thought to himself, "I should have looked around a little more thoroughly. Too late now though, I guess." A renowned thief though. That was rather impressive. "A thief huh? Haha, maybe I could be you're partner in crime and we could steal all the things in this universe," Minato joked with a wide grin plastered to his face.
"That's a strange way to end up here. Just flying around and poof black hole," Minato chuckled. Minato reflected on what happened right before he ended up here, "The last thing I remember was sealing my soul away to stop some bad stuff from happening to the world. Next thing I know I'm sitting on this bench. To tell you the truth, I'm pretty sure this a dream. No way I could be alive right?" Minato laughed with a sound of disbelief in his chuckles. "Cue the sad classical music here."
Never believed life could be on other planets? This made Minato laugh out loud on the inside. "Mm, I don't know about that. I've always thought their could be life out there, and hell this pretty much proves it. If it's real that is." Wait a minute did this guy just say ship? "Hm, ship, alien like creatures, a space-faring machine, could it be?" Minato asked himself. "Do you have a space ship Kid?" Minato asked cheerfully. It sure would be fun to explore space. Space, the final-frontier, full of mysterious wonders. A never ending affinity of space that stretches on forever with infinite limits on what could and couldn't be. If Kid did have a ship maybe he could come along for the ride, hell, he had nothing better to do. Upon receiving the name of the town from Kaito, Minato said, "Eh, it fits in a way. I guess." Minato was never really one-hundred percent on what he said.

His eyes lit up when the boy mentioned that he too was from Japan, that meant that he wasn't the sole survival of his planet! In that case, maybe if he searched around he'd find Aoko and Nakamori-keibu and everyone else! Exciteful hope bubbled deep within the pit of his stomach at the thought of seeing the familiar faces of his home. Hell, he'd even be happy to see the face of that annoying detective kid, Suguru Hakuba. "Haha, Nemuri no Kogorou? Well, he's been on my case once or twice I believe but trust me when I say; he's not all he's cracked up to be." Not many people knew that that pipsqueak detective Edogawa Conan was actually the brain behind the brilliant deductions of Mouri Kogorou and was, infact, the reason the washed-out detective had been nicknamed 'Nemuri no Kogorou'. Of course, Kaito was clever enough to figure all of this out on his own--and partly due to a few minor slip-ups of the tiny detective boy.
He smirked, "Sorry kid, but this Phantom Thief works alone--unless you have any special talents that you could bring to the table." Kaito eyed the boy curiously, tilting his head slightly.
The brunet leaned back against the bench, wistfully staring up at the sky. Maybe this was all a dream, it would certainly make sense and dispel all those illogical thoughts circulating around this world--this universe. But if it was true, and this was merely a dream thought up by his subconcious...then how come he wasn't waking up? A pessimistic frown pulled at the corners of his lips, "I don't really understand any of this either, it'd be so much easier to just say that this is a dream but...even I'm not creative enough to imagine all of this--and I'm the King of Imagination." He chuckled at not only his own comment, but Minato's depressive one as well.
That smirk came back almost instantly at the mention of his Gummi Ship--it wasn't the most amazing vessel out there but it was good enough to take him from place to place. Closing his eyes in contemplation, he opened one and grinned, "That I do! Remember when I mentioned that I had been on a heist when I disappeared into that black hole? Well, the jewel that I had stolen was worth quite a bit so I figured the owner of it wouldn't mind if I'd sell it for a bit of cash--purely for the sole purpose of survival." He laughed, remembering the look on the shop owner's face when he'd brought in the blue faceted diamond, "With the munny I received from that pretty little gem I was able to afford a somewhat cheap Gummi Ship--which is their way of traveling from world to world I guess."

Minato started to reflect on his talents. "Hm, talents... talents," Minato said aloud, "Well, I can swim really fast. Nearly won the regionals. Aside from that I'm a pretty good swordsman. Plus I can summon these two really strong guys to help me out." Minato thought a little harder at what else he might be talented in, "Mm, some president of a tv company wanted me to be an underwear model. I turned him down naturally but that probably means I'm rather appealing to others. Oh, I also make friends pretty easy. As far as talents go that's all I can really think of."
"I don't know. Personally, I still think this place is just a figment of my imagination," Minato shrugged. This is just too surreal for Minato to believe. "Ah well, I need a ride off of this planet. There's gotta be other people out there. Could I get a ride somewhere more... hospitable maybe?"

He chuckled, amusement dancing in his eyes as the boy began to list off his talents and achievements. To be perfectly honest Kaitou KID didn’t need another assistant, he had several well trusted helping-hands as it was but that didn’t mean he couldn’t help Minato out, or even stick around for the sake of having a little company on his travels.
What the boy said next peeked Kaito’s interest, a mischievous smirk tugged at the corners of his lips and he leaned forward so that his and Minato’s faces were mere inches from each other. “Potential underwear model, eh? Now that’s impressive. I’ve got to admit, you definitely have got the looks to model, I’d definitely would’ve bought the issue that you were published in if you had.”
He couldn’t deny that Minato certainly was quite a looker.
“Well, Minato, this is your lucky day! Not only have you gotten to meet me—but I’m also willing to let you catch a ride with me!” The brunet grinned a big toothy grin, still sitting obscenely close to the boy—invading his personal space.

"Perhaps I said a little too much," Minato thought to himself. He did just name off quite a long list of skills, he never talks that much. Minato could see a twinkle in the eyes of Kaito, "On the other hand... maybe I said just enough?" Minato thought as he smiled. He could have name lots of other things but he decided to pick out only the most important things.
A strange smile introduced itself on Kaito's face when Minato started talking about his possible underwear modeling career. Kaito pushed himself through the personal barrier that separated the two, putting his face inches from Minato's. "Um, thanks," Minato replied to Kaito's compliment. "I guess," he said almost inaudibly. Did Kaito possibly swing for the other team? Minato tried to push such uncomfortable thoughts to the side.
Minato was relieved to hear he could get a ride, "It really must be my lucky day!" Minato replied with his own shiny toothed smile. When Kaito re-invaded his personal space, Minato gently pushed him back and let out a soft chuckle. "And thanks," he said, glad to get out of this isolated place. [/blockquote]
