I tend to stay away from them as well—though I’m sure if we were to come across one with the two of us working together we could probably take it out with ease.” Heartless were terrible at strategizing and definitely wouldn’t have stood a chance against the two of them if they were to have teamed up to take it down. Though, she wasn’t in any particular mood to be getting into a battle at the moment—but if the situation called for it…and there was no way out or around it then she’d jump in whether she wanted to or not.
A small frown pulled at her lips as she contemplated what he had said about the darkness not bothering him because he wasn’t afraid of it. “Well, that theory would certainly make sense.” It was like when someone told you that ghosts or other make-believe monsters such as the boogey-man couldn’t hurt you if you didn’t show fear. Except those types of monsters weren’t real [at least, she didn’t think they were—she had yet to see a ghost] and the darkness was very real.
Stepping out of the darkness of the corridors and into…the darkness of the night, though it definitely didn’t compare to the blinding darkness of the corridors—out here there were the glow of the stars and the blaze of the lanterns lining the streets. And what was that awful stench that seemed to permeate from every inch of the surrounding area? Kiaxi scrunched up her nose in disgust, her eyes watering as the strong scent of alcohol hit her full on.
Where exactly were they? She’d never been to such a…lively place. The streets were littered with trash and empty bottles, as well as drunkards passed out lying in their own filth, scantily clad women shamelessly using their assets to entice the drunks who were still capable to standing upright. “How…charming.” She muttered, her eyes scanning the rowdy crowds in the streets. Subconsciously Kiaxi moved closer to Zachary, something about this place gave her an uncomfortable feeling—or maybe it was the stares the two were now receiving from a particular group of drunks who were hanging around the entrance of one of the local taverns. She felt like a piece of meat being eyed hungrily by a pack of wild dogs, it was a little unsettling, even for someone without a heart.
“I get the feeling that we’re the youngest people in this entire town…” She side-stepped out of the way as a particularly sloshed man stumbled by, narrowly avoiding running into her and instead fell into the street where he laid there without bothering to pick himself back up again, “…and the only two who’re sober too.” She added as an afterthought. | [atrb=style, font-family: Tahoma; word-spacing: 1px; text-align: justify; background-image: url(http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a52/RynxEnvy/Dark-Backgrounds-for-HTC-08-480x400.jpg); border: 1px dashed #8c2e56; color: ffffff; padding: 5px; -webkit-border-radius: 10px 10px 10px 10px; -moz-border-radius: 5px; opacity: 0.6]tagged; zachary/open words; 500 notes; --- lyrics; |

But maybe we won't have to worry about fighting one anytime soon." He shrugged his shoulders ever so slightly. He wasn't the type to care for violence, never had been, but he'd fight if he needed too. He hadn't taken all those martial arts classes for nothing. They were for self defense, which is what he'd use them for if they couldn't get away from a large Heartless or something. They'd have nothing to worry about. He felt pretty sure about that.
With his hands still clasped together behind his head, he nodded. He had never really been afraid of the dark. So maybe it went deeper than being afraid or not. Adults usually claimed that they weren't afraid of anything and if that were true then the darkness wouldn't effect them much either. So maybe the darkness left him alone because he had never had a problem with it. Rather than growing out of the fear the way most did. If they ever really grew out of it. The adults could have just been lying.
The the little grin that had appeared on his face not too long ago faded away quickly. The smell of alcohol hit him like a brick in the face and he suddenly found it a bit difficult to breath. He never did like the smell of alcohol but this was ridiculous. It took him a few seconds to get his bearings back in order.
Looking around him revealed that it was still rather dark out. No where near as dark as the corridor he had just come from but still dark. The place was lit by lanterns and by the stars in the dark sky above. The light might have been somewhat welcoming if not for the smell and the trash that littered the ground. People were passed out all over the place. Everyone else seemed drunk. It was disgusting. He had seen pups before but never had he seen a place like this.
He lowered his arms until they were hanging at his sides. He felt uncomfortable. Very uncomfortable. He felt like he was being watched and after a few seconds he realized why. He was being watched. Or, rather, he and Kiaxi were being watched. And he did like the way they were being looked at. He kept his eyes on the small group hanging around a tavern entrance.

Those are the types of worlds that the more powerful Heartless thrive in.” She brought her hand away from her side and ran it through her dark shoulder-length hair, ruffling through her bangs before letting it fall back down to her side, “I hope not at least, I’m not really up for the thought of a fight right now.” Worse case scenario they were attacked and she and Zachary would have to tag team it, with her speed and his—she assumed he was skilled in fighting—battle skills they’d probably take it out in no time. Or…she could always try her hand at controlling the offending creature and command it to leave the area. She hadn’t practiced much with Heartless—summoning them and sending them away that is—she was gaining confidence in her ability to summon the lower level Nobodies, such as Dusks, but she had never really tried controlling the Heartless. Though she assumed that it wasn’t any different from calling on the Nobodies.
This world—this place…it wasn’t exactly what she had had in mind when she had considered where to take them. Truth be told she had randomly picked a spot for them to exit, but if she had known that the world on the other side of her exit portal was going to be such a disgusting and downright filthy place she probably would’ve skipped over it and moved on to the next one. But since they were already there they might as well have a look around—perhaps there were more…sanitary areas of the town and hopefully the farther they walked the less drunks they would encounter. Maybe even the strong scent of alcohol that seemed permanently attached to this town would fade as they got farther away from this place, too. That would be wonderful. She didn’t know how much longer she’d be able to tolerate the stinging in her eyes and nose from the putrid mix of alcohol and vomit.
Was it even safe for them to be in a place like this? Kiaxi shook her head, she had her scythe and while she hadn’t seen Zachary summon any weapon or mention having one she was sure he could defend himself in some way—they could take on a couple drunkards. Especially since alcohol impaired the senses, the guys could hardly stand let alone fight properly. It’d be the easier fight ever
“Hm. We probably shouldn’t linger here too long…” She muttered quietly, a hint of unease entering her tone as she spoke to him, careful not to let her voice stray into a louder octave that the men stumbling around the streets could hear. She really didn’t feel like having to deal with the likes of them.
Her dark eyes stayed glued to the group previously mentioned. They were muscular, no doubt from working aboard the ships in the harbor, and tanned from the sun’s harsh rays…and looked as if they hadn’t been sober in days. The leader of the group caught her eye and cast a lopsided smirk, signaling his two cronies who stuck loosely to his side as he pushed away from the wall he’d been leaning against and started for the two teens.
“Uh-oh. This could end badly.” For the drunk jerks, that is. | [atrb=style, font-family: Tahoma; word-spacing: 1px; text-align: justify; background-image: url(http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a52/RynxEnvy/Dark-Backgrounds-for-HTC-08-480x400.jpg); border: 1px dashed #8c2e56; color: ffffff; padding: 5px; -webkit-border-radius: 10px 10px 10px 10px; -moz-border-radius: 5px; opacity: 0.6]tagged; zachary words; 571 notes; I figured we could add a little excitement to the thread >.> lol lyrics; |

He wasn't really into fighting unnecessary battles. Fighting in general wasn't something he enjoyed doing too much. He fought when he had to and that was about it. Certainly not the stereotypical 'bad guy' type. Of course, he wasn't a 'good guy' either since he didn't go out of his way to help people. That pretty much left him with a neutral title though that's not how people would see him at first glance. Actually, at first glance he wasn't sure what someone would assume.
He sniffled a little. It didn't help his now slightly runny nose though. All it really succeeded in doing was getting another whiff of the horrid smells that lingered everywhere. Like the vomit. He felt a little queasy. He never would have thought a world could smell like this. An entire town that smelled like one of the taverns from his home world. Actually, scratch that. The entire town smelled at least ten times worse than the worst tavern in his hometown, if not much, much worse then that.
"I'm all for moving along." He kept to himself that his stomach was a little woosey. It wasn't too bad yet anyway. Though he wasn't sure how long it'd be before his stomach got tired of the smells and decided he needed to cough up whatever food was in his belly. If there was food in there at all. He didn't feel particularly hungry but he knew it had been a while since he had eaten. He wasn't sure how long he was in the darkness before falling into the ocean of Twilight Town.
And as if his stomach and nose weren't giving him enough problems, they had caught the eyes of three men. Or, she had caught there eyes at least. He wasn't quite sure the guys payed much attention to him. That didn't really matter though, because he was watching them. When the 'leader' smirked and the three pushed themselves away from the wall, he glanced over at his female companion.
She was right, of course.
This wouldn't end very well. And since he didn't feel like dying here, he figured it would be ending badly for the three drunk adults. Not only that, but he really didn't want to see what the three guys had planned for the two teenagers. Shoot, he didn't even want to think about what they planned to do. Not that he planned on letting them get away with anything at all but he also didn't want to think about what might happen if he and Kiaxi weren't as good a tag-team as they had been saying. He believed they could beat the guys, or simply out run them. So the thought of them not getting away somehow wasn't a very dominate thought.

This didn’t happen very often and she’d been around alcoholics and drunks before, however briefly those encounters may have been. Was it even possible for a Nobody to feel light headed under the influence of alcohol and whatever remnants of drugs may have been floating around? But then again—it was a heart that she lacked—she still retained the other organs in her body…as far as she knew at least. How else would she have been able to think and act without having a brain? Though she’d never tested the theory that she still had her other organs and nor had she heard of any Nobody doing so either [but that didn’t mean anything, she hadn’t really met any other Nobodies].
Kiaxi nodded her head in agreement, “Great. I think if we follow this road that we’re on it might lead us to a more… |
” She bit her lip, eyes darting around the dodgy area that they had stumbled into, “ …tolerable part of the world, hopefully.” You would’ve thought that with the town being so close to the ocean that the stench would have aired out and diffused, but nope. The dark haired Nobody frowned, moments away from summoning her scythe as the men staggered forwards, closer and closer. She was kind of hoping that they’d be too sloshed to really comprehend what was happening and would just turn around and leave or something. Kiaxi didn’t really think that getting into a fight in the center of a town full of drunk pirates and wenches would be a good idea—what if these guys had friends? Or what if by seeing a fight break out it instigated the other people stumbling around town to jump into the fray. That could be disasterous. “ Um. I’d rather not. If we have to, then we’ll have to but…maybe we can reason with them—or at least confuse them enough to back off.” “ Well lookie here, fellas. Seems we’ve gotta pair of stray pups, eh?” The self-appointed leader of the group of men chuckled, slurring his words together. Kiaxi scrunched up her nose in disgust, he wreaked just as bad, if not worse than the surrounding area did! Maybe it wasn’t the town that smelled—maybe it was just him. Man this guy needs a bath. She opened her mouth, not to speak but to breath, deciding that it’d be less torturous than breathing in through her nose. He covered his nose and mouth with the end of his right arm-warmer. Was it possible to get drunk just off of alcoholic fumes? He didn't care what any adult might say or think on the matter, he was pretty certain that you could. After all, he was feeling a little light-headed and his mind just wouldn't function like it normally would. "But a more tolerable place sounds great."
He had never liked the smell of alcohol much. He had always thought that drinking it was stupid and immature. The adults that drank it just wanted to forget about their duties. They didn't usually care that they were screwing up their lives and the lives of the people around them. His father had been hard-working and so had his mother but he had seen kids whose parents drank. And he had seen their parents too. Some got violent when they'd had too much and some locked themselves away. The latter was his favorite type for obvious reasons.
The three men that were coming towards the two teens obviously were not the hideaway type. Which left them in the violent category. Unless, of course, there was another category that he wasn't aware of. And yes, he grouped the drunks who forced themselves on others in the violent group. Otherwise they wouldn't be 'forcing' now would they?
Now, he wasn't sure what their intentions were, he just knew it wasn't good.
"Maybe we should-" His words were broken off when the wannabe-leader slurred out something resembling a sentence. It was probably pure instinct that led to him moving between Kiaxi and the three drunken adults. Though he would have done the same thing even if he had taken a moment to think about it. Even if it meant putting himself so close to someone who smelled so absolutely horrible. The smell made his eyes water a little.
Despite feeling as though he was going to throw up whatever food resided in his stomach, he glared up at the 'leader' with a frown on his face. He wasn't entirely certain what to say in a situation like this, having never been in such a position before. He did know that he needed to avoid a fight if at all possible. And he also knew he needed to get himself, and Kiaxi, away from these guys. He kept his voice strong and stern as he spoke, glare still focused on the groups leading drunkard.

It wasn’t as if there was anything to smile or get excited over though, all in all she felt as if this place was nothing but one giant disappointment. Glancing over at Zachary she felt a tingle in her chest, the vague feeling of guilt. Kiaxi hoped that he wouldn’t hold it against her for taking him here; it hadn’t been her intention to take them to such a disgustingly rank place such as this. To be honest, she hadn’t known that such a place existed! After having visited quite a few worlds already she automatically assumed that they were all…relatively clean with air that was actually breathable.
Turning her torso a little so that she could get a better view of her companion, Kiaxi bit her lip and mumbled, “Hey Zachary.” She paused, contemplating the next words carefully, “When I opened the exit portal I didn’t anticipate us stepping out into a place like this. I’m sorry.” The words leaving her lips felt foreign to her, she wasn’t used to apologizing to anyone for her little slip-ups, it was definitely a new thing for her. But at the same time she wanted Zachary to know that this wasn’t her way of trying to impair his judgment by getting him drunk/high off the fumes surrounding the town so that she could take advantage of him or something equally as absurd as that. The thought sent a small wave of amusement crashing through her; she didn’t think she had it in her to directly or indirectly be responsible for any harm that may have come Zachary’s way. She liked him too much to even consider such a thing, he was the first person to actually offer her friendship—well, they’d just met so friendship may have been a bit too strong of a word to use, but nonetheless, the sentiment was still there.
When her blonde friend spoke again she tore her eyes off of the group approaching them, but whatever it was that Zachary was going to say never got said for the leader of the group spoke over him, forcing her focus back on the men directly in front of them. She took a tentative step forward, only to reverse the action by stepping back when Zachary moved so that he was in-between her and the drunkards. Kiaxi was a little surprised by the act of protectiveness that he was showing, but wrote it off as a guy thing—guys liked to show that they were strong and protective when girls were involved, something to do with their hormones…right?
”Just let us by.”
The gang laughed raucously, an obnoxiously loud noise that reverberated off her ribcage and pounded against her eardrums, making Kiaxi cringe. “Naw, I don’t see tha’ happenin’ anytime soon, kiddo.” | [atrb=style, font-family: Tahoma; word-spacing: 1px; text-align: justify; background-image: url(http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a52/RynxEnvy/Dark-Backgrounds-for-HTC-08-480x400.jpg); border: 1px dashed #8c2e56; color: ffffff; padding: 5px; -webkit-border-radius: 10px 10px 10px 10px; -moz-border-radius: 5px; opacity: 0.6]tagged; zacharryyyy words; 494 notes; --- lyrics; |

Not that he liked this place or anything but he supposed they could've ended up in worse places. He couldn't quite think of what would be worse than this place though. Of course, that was probably because his mind was impaired slightly and he hadn't been around enough to know much about other worlds. All the same, a fiery pit would have been worse than this place. Right?
Maybe not. At least a fiery pit wouldn't smell so bad and, chances were, a bunch of rude drunkards wouldn't have been there.
Yes. Not only were these men drunk and smelly, they were also rude. His response to his female companion was drowned out as the approaching group moved closer and it's leader decided to run of at the mouth. If he wasn't fighting back his utter disgust he might have displayed a bit of anger. However, due to the stench that was assaulting him, coupled with the slight lightheadedness that came with being a tad bit drunk (or would high be a better term since it was the fumes doing it?) off of the alcohol floating through the air, he really couldn't show much other than a little frown that didn't really look all that angry. It looked more annoyed if anything.
The gangs laughter sent a wave of alcohol and who-knows-what-else drifting through the air and into his face. It was really quite horrible, the way these people smelled. He wasn't sure there was a word that could describe it accurately. Horrid and disgusting didn't seem to come close and, at the moment at least, they were the worst words he could think of.
It wasn't only the smell that hit him rather hard when the gang laughed though. The sound itself was loud and it hurt his ears. And when the leader spoke again it wasn't much better to listen to. It was just as loud, just with one voice rather than three.
The confident look he had plastered to his face faltered just for a second as he fought down a wave of nausea. Normally, he'd take a deep breath and stand up nice and straight but deep breaths probably wouldn't be a good idea right about now. In the end, the only way he could look even the slightest bit intimidating was to stand tall and, well, not slur his words the way they were doing. There wasn't a problem with either of those two factors either. It was the looking intimidating part that probably wouldn't work at all since he was a kid compared to the drunkards. Them being drunk didn't help. And it also didn't help that he himself was a tinny bit on the slow side, at the moment anyway (stupid fumes).

Kiaxi took a step to the side so that she could get a better look at the troublesome men, she still stayed behind Zachary for the most part but the way she was standing now made it so that if she took another step forward she’d be side-by-side with him.
Her dark eyes shot away from the men in front of them, dancing across the many [drunk] faces of the bystanders—they were causing a scene, which was exactly what she had hoped wouldn’t happen. What if seeing her and Zachary like this instilled the same idea in their heads that was currently running through their attacks’ heads [well, they weren’t attacking them but from that I’m-an-asshole sneer that they were sporting she deduced that an altercation wasn’t far away].
“Don’ want no trouble, eh? Well that’s too be, eh boys?” The leader smirked, waiting for his two lackeys to answer with a chorus of ‘yeah!’s in agreement to his less than good intentions for the two kids.
“Who died and made you king of the town? Though, honestly, it’s not much of a kingdom. |
” She made a point to glance around their surroundings, crinkling her nose in disgust to emphasize what she was saying. That only infuriated the man, but Kiaxi felt as if whatever was going to happen was coming at an infuriatingly leisurely pace, she just wanted to get things done and over with—she and Zachary didn’t come here to be hassled by a bunch of drunk pigs who felt that they needed to show off how macho they were. “ Looks like these lost pups ‘ave a little moxy,” The man laughed, “ Boys, what say you to teachin’ these pups a little respect?” She brought her face to hove close to his ear so that the men couldn’t hear what she was saying, “ I’m sorry Zachary. I just want to get out of here as quick as possible, I didn’t mean to get you into a potentially dangerous situation like this.” Kiaxi shot a glance at the men real quick before focusing on her blonde companion once again, “ But I think we can take them, we’re a lot smaller than them so we’ve got agility on our side.”[/div] [atrb=style, width: 100px; vertical-align: top;]

[atrb=style, background: #161616; padding: 8px;-webkit-border-radius: 10px 10px 10px 10px; -moz-border-radius: 5px; opacity: 0.6] Tagged: Zachary Wordcount: 391 Song: Welcome to Oblivion by Madina Lake Notes: :3 Credit: JADE of FD

These pirates weren’t ruthless or cutthroat. They didn’t kill at every turn. They didn’t even steal from each other. They were all just drunkards and brawlers. Rain had lived too long in Paraga, his home world, to know that these idiots weren’t anywhere near what he had been through.
He hadn’t even pulled Old Cove out on these morons. It started with him waking up in this miserable town called Tortuga from what he found out. He still had his backpack with him, and all his belongings as well. He woke to find himself in a back alley. He could have sworn he was Hadabrah… or something like that. It was a desert wasteland. He hated being so far away from the sea and when he tried to leave he found out that it only seemed to go on forever. But when he had finally fallen unconscious to the heat, he woke up here. And he stumbled out of the alley into a group of “pirates”. “Oooi. Watch where you be walkin’ laddie. You be thinkin’ you own Tortuga?” “Tort…Tortuga? Is that where I am now?” The other pirates laughed. “This one’s had more drinks than he can handle,” another one bellowed. Rain sighed and walked away.
He wandered for about an hour until he finally found a tavern. He walked inside and sat down at the bar. “You like you could use some ale.” “No. Not ale. Rum. The strongest you’ve got.” “Ah ah… money first. I don’t give out free drinks. Nothin’ personal kid.” Rain nodded and reached for his wallet when he realized it was missing. “God damnit…” he whispered. “Got lifted? Happens.” Rain stood and walked right back outside. He knew exactly what he was looking for. Those idiots that he had bumped into. He must have not noticed that it got stolen when he was trying to find his heading.
And there they were. Talking to a pair of kids. Of course lowlifes would steal from drunks and children. Those were the easy targets. But that didn’t make Rain any better. He wasn’t here for the kids or to beat the crap out of them… though he would have liked to. He had a headache… and a nice glass of rum or two would solve everything. “Hey,” he said to the one at the back. He recognized this one. He was the one who said Rain couldn’t hold his liquor. “Can I just get my wallet back? Don’t want trouble just hand it over.” “Oooi ‘boss’. The lightweight is back.” And for some reason that made Rain snap. It might have been just the headache and his missing wallet that was putting him on the edge, but that comment was surely the match that lit the cannon.
Because after that comment, Rain drew out one of his throwing knives and placed it to the man’s throat. “I want my wallet. You can do whatever the hell you want afterwards, but if I gotta gut every last one of ya to find my wallet, you better start prayin’ that my blade breaks before I get to you.”

I DECIDED TO FLY FROM THE INSIDE [atrb=cellSpacing,20,true][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 500px; background: url(http://i1142.photobucket.com/albums/n607/Nekomi-hime/Backgrounds/Seamless_Plaid_0067_by_AvanteGardeArt.jpg) center center; border: 3px dashed #000000, bTable] here's the weight of the world I AM FOCUSED ON WHAT I AM AFTER, THE KEY TO THE NEXT OPEN CHAPTER i'm just making my way I'M NOT AGAINST WHAT'S RIGHT, I'M NOT FOR WHAT'S WRONG | The intensity of the situation didn't seem like it would be lessening anytime soon. If anything, it seemed to get worse as the seconds passed. Probably because the three drunken adults just wouldn't leave the two of them alone. Of course, that was probably because the three men were drunk. And they were just 'kids' who were walking around.
It didn't help that the five of them were now causing a scene that was no longer being overlooked by the rest of this worlds drunken inhabitants. He sure hoped that the rest of those drunks didn't choose to come after them as well. Three very horrible smelling drunks was more than enough for him.
Zachary held in the sigh that threatened to escape his lips. He truly hadn't expected them to leave just because he didn't want any trouble. No, that would have been way to easy. It made him uneasy, to be honest. Sure, he knew the two of them could handle themselves just fine. They'd be able to lay these guys out if they needed to, he knew that. All the same, he really didn't like this.
Then his companion spoke up and he really couldn't agree with her more. This place certainly wasn't a very nice kingdom. And even if you wanted to call the place as such, the leader of the small group that stood before them wasn't much of a king. I mean, what kind of king went around bothering a couple of kids?
"Why not teach yourselves a little repect and just back off."
He wasn't sure what sort of response he'd get from his little comment. His attention was diverted to Kiaxi as she apologized to him for the situation. He really couldn't say that he minded the situation too much. While he didn't particularly care for a potentially dangerous situation, he would have liked to get out of there as quickly as possible as well.
So he whispered back to her, "It's fine, don't worry about it." His voice probably sounded a bit strained. From the smell of course. Aside from that, he probably came off as mostly indifferent. "If it comes down to it, we'll just have to take them out. That's all there is to it."
And then his attention was back on the three goones. Not just them though. There was another guy standing behind them now. That guy spoke up, towards the drunk at the back of the little group. Apparently, from what he gathered at least, the drunks had stolen the other guys wallet. So, what then? Were they looking to steal all the money that the two teens were carrying with them? He wasn't sure he had any money, none much if he did happen to have some.
A throwing knife was soon held to one of the man's throats. All for a wallet. This place really was getting worse and worse as the time went by. If these new guy only wanted his wallet, did that mean he was planning to buy more alcohol? He had a feeling that that was indeed the case.
He turned his head towards Kiaxi while there 'attackers' were slightly preoccupied. "Maybe we should use this chance to just get out of here?" He sounded sort of cowardly just now, didn't he? Well, it couldn't be helped. | all alone i pierce the chain AND ON AND ON THE STING REMAINS, AND DIEING EYES CONSUME ME 580 WORDS kiaxi, rain. TAGS sorry it took so long. It wouldn’t have been a very smart idea for her to summon a portal for escape because it could send those who were sober enough to see it being conjured into a panic, she knew that but what if that was their only escape? They could easily take on three drunks but if the rest of the townspeople decided to jump in…
Two teens against an entire town of drunks…with those odds she couldn’t foresee a positive outcome for her and Zachary should things turn out for the worse.
“Hmm… |
” She paused in thought, dark eyes staying focused on the sneering drunks, the leader took a step towards them, “ What if we—” Her thought was interrupted by another man—another pirate?—who marched right up to the drunks and grabbed one of them out of anger. So…apparently those three have been causing all sorts of trouble in their drunken stupid. Kiaxi crinkled her nose, alcohol made you do idiotic things which was part of the reason why she abhorred the stuff. The other reason? It smelled awful! A vague wave of gratefulness surged through her at his arrival, he had successfully—and unintentionally—diverted the attention away from her and Zachary, distracting the men and giving her and her companion the perfect opportunity to make a run for it. Her amethyst gaze landed back on Zachary and she nodded, eager to flee from the scene, “ Yeah, let’s get out of here—who knows how long they’re gonna be distracted for…” She whispered hurriedly, her hand impulsively finding his, gripping it tightly and leading him away from the scene to a more secluded part of town. It still smelled of alcohol and desperation but didn’t quite wreak as much as the center of town did. “ We were lucky that guy came along to bring the focus off of us, huh?” Her lips quirked into a small, lighthearted smile.
