I was on FD before, can I still keep my character from before?
Well, it all depends on the character to be honest. If you played a canon character then the answer is, obviously, going to be a big N.O due to the fact that the revamped FD takes place roughly 50 or so years after the original Final Distance. If you played an OC and would like to bring that same character back then you’d need to add a few changes to your application to make it compatible with the new timeline.
How come some Organization XIII members are still around but others went on to have grandchildren?
Well, the first time around Sora was able to help some of the less evil and more deserving Nobodies get their hearts back while the others remained Nobodies.
How come some of the canons are grandchildren of characters that shouldn't have been around in KHII?
Well, the grandchildren were based off of characters that were on the site previously--so for example, we had a Ventus, Aqua, and a Zack Fair. So those characters were free to have grandchildren in the end.
Can my character be a Keybearer?
Unless you're joining as a site-canon character who's a Keybearer then, for now, that'll have to be a no as well. Keybearers are supposed to be rare in the Kingdom Hearts world and therefore we can't have an over abundance of them running around. However, further down the road we'll pick one or two more Keybearers to add to the mix.
But last time you let us write up Awakenings and would pick a Keybearer a month?
I know we did, but in the end that lead to an influx of Keybearers and the character ratios were off balance because of that. So for now either you can join as one of the pre-set site canon characters or you can wait until the Staff members decide on appointing a new Keybearer. But for that to happen we need to have enough regular characters so that the ratios aren't too off balance. Keep in mind that it may be months before we decide on bringing a new Keybearer into the mix.
On the subject of Keybearers, how many are we allowed to play?
We will not allow anyone to play more than two Keybearer for the obvious reason that it simply wouldn't be fair to the other players.
I noticed that the Stats system from before was changed, but does that mean that we'll still be going by that battle system from before?
We decided that instead of making everyone keep track of their stats with complicated math every time they posted that it'd just be easier to incorporate it into your character's sidebar. With that said, instead of using that complicated battle system from before we're going to make all battles freeform, as in you don't have to go by some set mathematical system. However that means that we're putting our trust in our members and hoping that you guys do not powerplay or godmode--if we see this happening then we'll be forced to bring back that battle system from before.
Concerning the Stats, how exactly does that work?
Well, since we're going to go free-form when it comes to battles we're going to use the stats to show who's the stronger opponent. For example, if your character is level 5 and has 60 Strength and you're up against someone who's level 3 with 40 Strength, it should go without saying that your character will have the advantage in the battle and will do more damage to the level 3 character than that character will do to you.
Is there a set limit to how many characters I'm allowed to have?
At the moment there is not limit to characters that one person may play, but keep in mind that activity is a very important thing here. So if you play 6 characters you best be sure that you log into their accounts everyday and post with them all. We take activity very seriously here.
I'm adopting a canon character, who should I put down for his/her parents?
Parents names are completely up to you when it comes to the creation of a site-canon character. Also, as a sidenote, please be sure to mention who your character's grandparent is.
I found this really pretty picture on the internet but don't know if it's an actual anime character. Can I still use it as my playby?
Well, you can ask the Staff or the members whether or not they recognize the character from any anime but if they don't and it's suspected that it's simply a piece of original art from someone on the internet then the answer is going to have to be 'no'. We only allow playbys from anime/manga, it has to be a legit series that the character is from. The only exception we'll make is if you've had art commissioned [or you're an exceptional artist and drew it yourself] of your character, but you need to have several pieces of artwork of your character [because in that case we won't have to worry about other people coming up with the pictures since it'd be original and made strictly for you]. All original artwork must be run by the Staff first before it can be used here.
Concerning graphics, are they required?
Yes and no. We require that you at least have an avatar [100x100 or 150x200] but signatures are purely optional. Since we require the use of legit anime/manga playbys finding avatars shouldn't be too difficult. If you'd like custom character graphics and aren't very savvy with photo manipulation feel free to request a graphics set in the Graphics board.
How active do you expect us to be?
Well, we understand that real life and family/school are much more important than the internet, but we also expect you to be here as often as you can possibly be. If you plan on going away, or get sick, or something comes up then please post in the Absence board telling us that you'll be gone for a while so we don't think you've dropped off the face of the earth.
