The waves crashed against the white sands as a young silvered male walked along the shore line. He didn't come here often anymore but now he couldn't help but venture here once and a while. His mind was usually focused on school or something- but seeing as they had summer break just start he had all the time in the world to think of other things. Sadly his thoughts were nothing but this odd dream he's been having a few months now. He asked is grandfather Riku but he either avoided the question or just gave one of his annoying 'all knowing' smiles.
Damn it!
Kicking the sand beneath his shoes he grimaced feeling more annoyed than usual. Sighing he looked around before deciding to go to the little island where the paopu tree sat. As usual it held the star-shaped fruits that Huyu never dared to eat, knowing (and fearing) the known tale of the island. If two people were to share the paopu fruit there destinies would be entwined forever. Or that's how the story goes.
Truthfully he didn't believe in it, but he shuddered the thought if one of his "admirers" got him to share it with him/her. Ugh... pushing that rather unpleasant thought aside he found himself already on the bridge that led to the small inlet. Walking over to the palm tree he sat down on it's curved exterior before leaning back. Breathing in he released a sigh before closing his eyes- drifting off...
No doubt soon he would be in for a rude awakening from a familiar face...

Shou found himself more and more alone as of late, his father had been working more hours than usual, promising his son a nice father-son vacation once it was all over. While the idea of actually spending time with his father seemed incredibly appealing he knew that it was probably nothing more than another empty promise that was never gone through with. His father was a good guy and Shou loved him dearly but the man worked far too much, to the point where the teen never even saw his father anymore. He was gone by the time Shou woke up in the morning and didn’t get home till after the teen was already tucked away in bed, it was a wonder that his father didn’t collapse from exhaustion.
He shook his head, attempting to clear those particular thoughts and focus on something else. It was summer now and that meant that he had far more time to himself than he knew what to do with. When he had school Shou focused all of his time and energy on his work, but when he wasn’t in school? Well, he mainly spent his time playing sports or learning new recipes in the kitchen.
Today, however, he found himself walking the nostalgic path along the shores of the play island, the very island where he spent most of his childhood days up until his parents divorced. Since then he hadn’t really visited the place all too much, it was a lot quieter than he remembered—Shou’s gaze darted around his surroundings. It was strange, when he was younger he remembered that all the neighborhood kids would row out here and play…but now? It was silent, desolate. It was a little depressing, really.
Subconsciously he found himself walking towards the inlet that was home to the bent paopu tree where he remembered leaping from as a child and diving into the warm ocean waters. As he shuffled closer he noticed that he wasn’t the only one paying a visit to his childhood playground. His lips twitched into a small smile as he quietly crept closer until he was standing beside the silverette, “Oi, rise an’ shine.” [/blockquote]

Huyu wasn't one to lose his composure, he always seemed to have some type of control on his emotions. However in such a vulnerable state he couldn't help but yelp in shock jutting forward ocean blue searching wildly for the voice that woke him up. Calming down as he recognized the voice slowly registering in his mind he frowned before turning towards the brunette. "...Did you have to do that Shou?" He asked irritably as he crossed his arms his frown deepening. Ah yes Shou- a close friend of his, more so than the other kids who played around on the island as a kid.
Not that he particularly cared who we played with back then- he just felt more at ease around the brown haired teen back then. Then again- he was one of the few that saw the real him and not the facade he put up every day. It both warmed and disturbed him at how easily the brunette could read him. "Anyway... What are you doing here? Any reason? I know it's not just to annoy me." He asked his tone seemingly annoyed but if one were to hear close enough you could see he was actually quite happy at the disturbance.
Better than just laying here bored all day after all.

Shou grinned satisfactorily at a job well done for having startled Huyu out of his daze. He folded his arms behind his neck and leaned back against the base of the bent Paopu tree, situating himself beside his silver-haired friend. “I believe you already know the answer to that question.” He paused, before adding, “Though if you’re not quite awake yet then I guess I’ll go ahead and tell you that yes I had to do it. How else was I going to wake up sleeping beauty? Definitely wasn’t going to do it with a kiss, if that’s what you were hoping.” He let his eyes drift closed, a light chuckle escaping through his parted lips.
Not many people had the luxury of seeing Shou act so carefree and happy like this, only his closest friends were able to see him during these moments where he simply enjoyed life and acted more like a kid his age. More often than not Shou was seen as a quiet, polite boy who excelled in academics and poured all of his free time into cooking, rarely ever actually socializing outside of his own group of close friends. Both he and Huyu had that in common, they were both seen as someone else by the outside world…but they both were able to see the other for who they were as an individual.
“And how do you know I’m not here just to annoy you?” He peeked open an eye, his eyebrow rose curiously before he shrugged his shoulders, “I guess the same reason why you came down here—to think and be by myself. Though now that you’re here I don’t mind the company.”

Kiss? Was he serious? That idiot... Though he WANTED to mess with him and say 'the thought crossed my mind" he kept his mouth shut and instead and made a "hmph" sound. "Yeah yeah.. I'd know if you wanted to annoy me- you'd have that stupid grin on your face." He snorted at the thought before pushing off of the tree. Putting his hands in his pockets he frowned. Man was he really out of it today? Usually he was more aware of his surroundings. But today he didn't even notice Shou coming...
'I must be tired or something.' He thought as he breathed out a small sigh. Looking back at the other teen he couldn't help but smirk of his words. Yeah company sounded nice... Staring out as the see he took his hands out of his pockets and crossed his arms seemingly deep in thought. He didn't speak for several moments until his voice rang out over the peaceful silence.
"Hey Shou?" He began and paused as though thinking on his words. "Do you ever believe the stories your Grandpa Sora told you?" He gave him a glance a frown on his face. "You know- the Heartless, Darkness, Keyblades, other worlds and stuff?" He furrowed his brows not sure if he was making any sense. It sounded so odd saying it out loud- I mean really, would anyone actually believe in such nonsense? He quickly tried saving himself with a dismissive wave of his hand. "Not that I believe in any of it I mean..." He stared back at the ocean. "I'm just curious."
[That sounds great! =D I have no objections~! I have nothing to add since I suck at plotting so let's do it! :'D

Shou tilted his head towards his friend, “Would you rather I frown instead? Sorry I can’t be a grump like you 24/7.” As if to prove a point he pulled his lips into a comical frown, one that was over-exaggerated and didn’t look at all natural on his face. It only lasted a moment or two before he slid back into a more comfortable, neutral expression. He let his attention drift away from his friend momentarily, focusing on the looming dark clouds hovering above the water out on the horizon. He recalled seeing those same, dark, ominous clouds lingering out over the sea for the past week or two now. Each day he’d wake up to find that those foreboding clouds had moved closer to the Islands than they had been the day before, it’d been like this for weeks now and it was beginning to worry him. No one else seemed to be affected by their presence, save for his grandfather who seemed to fidget a lot more than usual, but other than him everyone around town had gone about their business as per usual. At first he thought that perhaps it was a storm or a hurricane coming to ravage the island…but when nothing ever hit, no wind, now rain, nothing, he realized that it must’ve been something else. But what? He wasn’t sure.
”Hey Shou?”
He was pulled out of his musings, blinking, before turning his face to give the silverette his attention once more. “Hmm. So you’re asking me if I believe the ramblings of a delusional old man?” Well honestly, when he was younger he had believed in the stories up until a certain age when he realized that things like Heartless and Giant Keys used to protect the universe were not only impractical, but improbable as well. Shou preferred to think logically and there was nothing logical about traveling with a giant talking dog and a duck with a speech impediment. Sometimes his Grandfather would say the strangest things!
“When I was younger—before that mess with my parents—I would sometimes go home after visiting with Grandpa and I would sort of…insert myself into the stories he told. Replacing him with myself and acting out the journeys and adventures that he’d described to me.” His eyes glazed over, a reminiscent, almost nostalgic look entered his eyes. He missed being a kid, back when his parents were still together and back before he was forced to take on so many responsibilities—back when he could actually enjoy his childhood and act his age.
Shaking away the thoughts, he shrugged, “It’s fun to play make believe. But that’s all it is, make believe.” Something about the way he said it, with such finality, belied the fact that he wanted to believe in something more than this poor provincial life this boring, monotonous life but…he just couldn’t bring himself to do it.
“I have a question of my own; have you noticed something weird about the sky lately…?”

Huyu couldn't help but chuckle at his friend's overexaggerated expression. The idiot was such a goof sometimes. Heh. His amused expression died quickly however as he sobered up in thought. His grandpa's stories weren't any less crazy than Shou's grandpa's. A king mouse with a gigantic key from the dark realm? Being possessed by a Heartless? Nobodies? That didn't even make sense! how could something exist if it isn't supposed to exist?! He just couldn't wrap his head around it...
Then again- it was just some wild fantasy after all... "..." Pulling out of his silent thoughts he blinked than nodded staring at the horizon as the dark clouds hovered ever slowly towards them. It was weird really, there was no thunder or lightning in the distance no high winds, nothing! It was abnormal and eerie and Huyu couldn't help but feel oddly worried yet curious of what this 'storm' may bring. The sense of an adventure seemed to flow through his body, as did the feeling of fear settled in the pit of his stomach.
To feel both worry and excitement was a weird and odd feeling but he couldn't quite sort his feelings out about the situation. ... Maybe he was over thinking things? Nodding absentmindly he spoke up. "Yeah. I have." He gave a glance over to his brunette friend. "Doesn't the storm feel odd to you?" He frowned even more. "I dunno about you but something isn't right about it." Sharing his thoughts he wondered what Shou had to think of it- but he had no doubt that the brunette boy felt the same way...
Whatever was coming was bad.

His lips curved into a frown, this one much more natural looking than the over-exaggerated one he’d displayed moments earlier, “Yeah, something feels…off. It’s a very ominous feeling—like something bad is going to happen…” Shou let out a sigh, he’d never felt this suffocated by the atmosphere around him like he did now, the air was calm and quiet but felt thick and tense, almost to the point where it was tangible. It was an uncomfortable feeling that had nothing to do with either of the two boys or the sudden silence between them, more so to do with whatever was to come…
“Do you hear that..?” It was a rhetorical question that Shou asked when he realized that the birds that had been singing moments before had suddenly stopped. Everything was an eerie calm and it was quite unsettling, it was at the point where he felt his skin prickle with goosebumps.
“Maybe we should head back to the mainland…? I’m getting a bad feeling about this.” While his voice was quiet, his face a neutral calm, on the inside he felt like his nerves were about to explode. What made it worse was that everything seemed normal…it was his instincts that told him that they weren’t—this was the calm before the storm.

Huyu nodded before glancing over at the horizon once more. Something...was coming... But what? And why did he feel a pull to it? It felt constricting and powerful, almost addicting yet it felt as though it was suffocating him. Huyu wasn't sure if he should fear it or revel in it!
Pulling himself from his momentary gaze he began walking towards the boats to the mainland. But he couldn't help but feel extremely worried, what was happening? Why did he feel so tense? Why did he seem so excited? "We should hurry..." He stopped as he looked at the horizon once again seeing the unnatural clouds come forth at what seemed an accelerated rate! Clouds don't do that!
Gasping suddenly he felt an unnatural throbbing in his head, something- something was getting into his head- what was it? Voices? What- what was wrong with him? As suddenly as it came it stopped and Huyu found his world had stopped spinning grunting he stood up shakily muttering he was fine so that Shou wouldn't have to worry. He didn't notice his eyes shift gold yellow briefly before turning back to their cold blue.
"W-We should get back quickly.. s-something is happening and I don't like it." He managed to speak out his mind still disorientated as he looked back at Shou a look of cold fear in his eyes even though his face was neutral his eyes expressed his extreme worry before they glazed over slightly. "Their here." He spoke out eerily monotone as he snapped out of his daze.
What was here? Why did he say that?
Suddenly the clouds overcasted completely over the sky covering everything in a deep dark shadow it almost seemed nighttime even though it was daytime not even five minutes ago. Strange shadows began to form from the earth with beady yellow eyes and Huyu couldn't help but be stricken with pure fear.
"RUN!" He urged to his best friend before darting off towards the boats- whatever was happening- it wasn't normal! Was- was his grandpa's stories true? Was darkness once again claiming this island? Huyu didn't know what to think- not anymore. And he could hop they made it out of here alive...

Huyu wasn’t the only one to notice the shift, but while the silverette was focused on the clouds [were they really clouds?] Shou was focused on his friend who seemed to be taking this little harder than he was. Out of concern, the brunet pushed himself off the sand and stood, not even bothering the brush off the debris that clung to his body, taking a step towards his friend, “Hey, are you a—” he didn’t get to finish his sentence, a strong feeling overcame him at that moment, the air felt incredibly thick and tense and it made Shou feel uncomfortable and unable to breathe properly. He drew in a breath, half-gasping, exhaling loudly.
“Y-yeah. We need to get back home. Now” The sense of urgency in his voice scared him and he wished that he’d never left the mainland to begin with, thinking about that row all the way back sent chills up his spine. The water was choppy and becoming more and more violent with each passing second and he was dreading having to get in that tiny wooden canoe and row all the way back, so many horrible scenarios played out in his mind—the boat over turning, him fighting against the current, ultimately each scenario ended with him drowning despite the fact that he was a strong swimmer. But no matter how decent a swimmer you are there’s no way that you could win in a fight against the ocean…
His skin prickled with goosebumps as his best friend spoke in an eerily monotonous voice and he was tempted to ask, ‘who’s here?!, but somehow he understood what Huyu had meant without even having to question it.
Shou was snapped out of his previous daze, instincts taking over, and made a mad dash for the row boats, following a few paces behind Huyu. “We need to get home and make sure everyone’s safe!” He called out above the roar of the ocean and the howls of the wind. He found his rowboat where he had left it tied to the dock, though it was thrashing about wildly in the water and his previous fears about capsizing began to replay in his head, though he didn’t have much time to think on his fears. He needed to get home.
