Tears stung bright baby blues. Leaning forward, he only continued to pick up speed. The hovereboard was felt sure and solid underneath her feet, unlike the rest of the world that seemed to be shattering around her. She finally came to a stop, right above one of the highest waterfalls in Radiant Garden. Leia's chest moved up and down, her heart pounding. She let out an exasperated gasp before collasping to lie flat against her board. Boarding always seemed to help take a bit of the edge off things when she was upset, but that she was sitting still, the images and words flooded back in her mind. She growled under her breath and closed her eyes. For your protection... You'll understand one day... There are some things better left unsaid... Of course, the argument was always about where her brother's whereabouts were. Where he was stationed, when he was coming home, why he was fighting. And she never got the answers. What was so hard about telling her the truth? Wouldn't it just be easier just to tell her and get it over with? But no...her father had to be difficult. But of course she had been the one to run out. Leia stretched backwards, letting her body slide slightly backwards. Her eyes flashed opened just as she slid off the edge of the board and plummetted towards the rushing water.

Before the war, even. The Rae family. Her family. She'd always kept an eye on them from a distance. From the shadows. No one ever really knowing that she was there. She wanted to keep it that way but, at the same time, she didn't. She'd been alone for so long that she wasn't completely sure how to deal with people. She shared all of her time with what Heartless had remained after the war had ended. She might have been a neutral presence in the universe, but that didn't effect the company she kept. It wasn't their fault, they hadn't chosen to become Heartless. That's why she didn't mind having them hanging around. But they were stirring again. The darkness was working it's way back like it always did and she had a feeling it was going to be even greater a battle this time around. She'd end up fighting this time, she was sure of it. If only to cleanse the hearts of the Heartless and keep the granddaughter of her Somebody safe. The young girl slipping off of her board and plummeting towards the waters bellow had caught Adelaide off guard. Hiding in the shadows would work this time. This wasn't something she could fix with a well timed spell. And she could just let Leia fall. It was bad enough that she couldn't help the girl with her family problems, she certainly wasn't going to let her die. It wasn't her time yet. One good thing about being a Nobody was controlling the darkness. She could walk through pretty much anything, travel through space, and even walk on air if she wanted to. Well, to be more accurate, she could walk on air thanks to being able to control the darkness. That's what she was doing now. Baby blue orbs closed, her body straightening out as she plummetted head first to the water. The rush drowned out her thoughts, the beating of her heart. Falling was almost like standing still.... "You really should be more careful, Leia." Leia's eyes snapped open, glancing down at the water that coursed and churned below her. She blinked rapidly before staring up at the hand holding. Her gaze traveled to the blonde, floating in what looked like a dark-shaped sphere. She blinked again before casting her eyes downwards then back again. The teen made a strangled noise. What was with the floating people today?! First Hild, now this girl. "How...?" she breathed out. Now that her senses were coming back, she could feel the strain of being held only by her wrist. With her free hand, she snapped her fingers. The purple-rounded board came like an obedient dog and settled underneath her. Now whenever this woman would let go, she would land deftly on her board. Leia backed away, slightly, simply continuing to stare at the girl. She appeared to be no more than two years older than her, three at most. The darkness of her portal seemed with a heartbeat of it's own. To Adelaide, Leia would look just her counterpart, just like the little girl the Nobody was made from herself. But these baby blues were filled with light compared to Kadence's dark orbs. "How do you know my name?"

But it was a little late for that now and, really, Adelaide didn't know what that could have done to Leia. Someone with a heart so full of light probably wouldn't pass through the portal unscathed like she did. Like someone who's heart was filled with darkness. Not darkness in the sense that most saw it, though. In reality, those with hearts of darkness actually weren't all that evil. At least not typically. It was just a matter of perception. And even those that were evil tended to have some reason. While that never justified their actions, it always left room for them to change. When Leia's board was floating beneath her, Adelaide let go of her wrist. If not for all the light behind her blue eyes, Ade might have confused her for Kade. That, and if she hadn't watched Kade age and Leia grow. It hurt sometimes, knowing that she'd never change. Or would she? Hadn't some of the other Nobody's become whole again? Axel and Roxas and Demyx. They'd all been given another chance at life. Yet here she was, just a remnant. No heart in her chest but the echo of one beating ringing loud and clear in her ears. She'd always wondered why she had it, but there had never been anyone to ask. That one mysterious man she'd met when she first found out who she was might have known, but she hadn't seen him since then. She doubted she ever would again. She smiled softly at Leia. Even though she wasn't sure of how to act or what to do around people, the familiar face gave her comfort. That familiar feeling of family and bonds. "I know a lot about you." She let the darkness around her form a small disk beneath her feet. It felt just like standing on something solid, to her at least. "I know how much you worry about your brother. Complete opposites with their hair, one light and one dark, but one's heart was light while the other was dark. Not evil, just darkness. But two pairs of blue eyes. Leia tilted her head. Even though the girl must have been about fifteen or sixteen, there was a wiseness, a knowing, in the girl's blue depths. She had seen things Leia had yet to see or take part of. Lei ran a hand through her hair and crossed her arms over her chest. She frowned softly at Adelaide's words. "Just a remnant? What are you talking about?" This girls spoke in riddles. A furrow shadowed Leia's dark brows as her brain turned. She came to a cross-legged position on her board, glancing down at the raging waters. If she had fell, what would be left her? A remnant, or just nothing. Leia glanced back up, eyes wide at the mention of her grandmother. "My grandmother..." ...died in her sleep peacefully when Leia was just seven at the age of 59. Even after six years, the memories were still fuzzy as she had grown up. Kadence Faithe Rae.... Since her grandmother had never married, Leia still carried her maiden name, which had been passed onto her father. Leia had never been very close to Kadence, only visiting on the holidays and occasionally staying with her when she and her brother were younger and their father was away at the military base. Leia looked puzzled. "How do you know my grandmother? You would have been like...seven or eight when she died...Were you friends?"

It was never happy for her to think about Kade's death, despite how peacefully she'd passed. It always reminded her that she was alone. That she would never get the chance to talk to her again. But right now, with her granddaughter there, it wasn't quite as bad. Because, though Kade was gone, she lived in Leia. At least, some of her did. That's where the bond they had came from. They were family, in a way. "I'm a lot older than I look. But no. We weren't friends, not really. I never managed to speak to her like I'm speaking to you. "I hate being a kid..." Being 13 and being the youngest in a family of males left Leia most of the time feeling left out of experiences that most kids her age were having. While her peers were out going places, Leia was usually having to sneak around to do such things. "There's darkness on the horizon. You might end up wishing your childhood could have lasted a bit longer." Leia just looked over Adelaide and narrowed her eyes, baby blues turning violet almost in the twilight. "Darkness?" she whispered, almost inaudibly. "Wait! You used the darkness a few minutes ago!" The teen frowned slightly. "For some reason I know you're telling the truth, or something like it. And you're right, my grandmother did tell me some stories, but I"ve forgotten. Or my father told me they weren't real. Sometimes I think he knows things and won't tell me, like why my brother's away." Leia cast her gaze at Adelaide. "Tell me things." The curiosity tinged her voice, eyes wide and asking and wanting to know. What if the darkness really did come? Was it different from the darkness this girl that knew her grandmother used? Would she be able to fight the darkness? Leia suddenly felt very small. Of course she was small, but knowing something was on the horizon made her realize just how small, maybe even fragile she was.

She zipped around, disappearing behind a waterfall and banking on the water so a wave came up around her. When she came back around, her hair was dripping wet and her clothes were soaked, clinging to her small frame. A grin rested on her face. She flipped over on the board, allowing Adelaide a chance to look at the bottom. The board was not only for transposition, but functioned as a shield. The teen wondered how much this girl knew. Did she know that she had been training? With sword and shield, dodging and ducking and blocking and parrying? Yet, there was still something she was missing.
