Traverse Town was considered a second home to Ryan. His late grandfather, on his father's side, had resided here before the town was overran by Heartless. Due to that, his family never stepped foot into Traverse Town in fear of having their hearts taken by the hideous creatures. Ryan was a reader-type of guy. He'd read anything from biography, research, and any other type of books that would prove interesting to his likings. There were different towns out there to explore, each of them had a different type of heartless activities. Traverse Town had some activity but nothing too major to kill yourself over. Only a few Shadow Heartless can be spotted wandering around the town carelessly looking for trouble. It was once at a major high, but thanks to the keyblader and his friends, it trimmed down to only having weak Heartless. How does he know about all this? He was alive around the time everything transpired. Instead of making himself visually known to everybody, he hid more in the shadows and observed from there. If it wasn't for them, Traverse Town would be covered with darkness.
"I have three cards in my hand,"[/b] Ryan showed Hoots waved the three cards in its face before setting it facedown on the table and spread them farther apart from each other. "You have 4 heart, an ace, and a king laying facedown. Now, choose which one you believe in the King card. If you win, then supper will be on me."[/b] A mischievous smirk grew on the features of Ryan. "Hm," Hoots stared at the cards questionably. "Don't pull no fast tricks, Ryan." Hoots said. It was talking owl; an very annoying one at that. His hands felt up in a defensive manner towards Hoot's comment, "No tricks." He ensured Hoots
"The middle one."
"Is that your final answer?"
"Just pick it up, will ya." Hoots grew impatient.
Ryan slowly waved his left hand through the three cards infront of him to create a dark blue aura around them. Hoots raised his left eyebrow before yelling, "HEARTLESS!". The aura quickly died away after the distraction, shooting a hesitate Ryan out of his seat and into the same direction of Hoots. Directing his fingers up towards the skies, he was signaling Hoots to go into the air and scout throughout the area around him. Hoots did exactly as told. It grew quiet for the brief moment. "FIRAGA" Hoots expelled a fireball from its mouth towards an Heartless that was attempting to attack Ryan from behind. Ryan looked behind him to find the Heartless disembodied itself into an dark mist after being struck by the Firaga. "Thanks, pal." This is what you called good teamwork between a man and his pet. A couple more Shadow Heartless slithered its way out of the ground distance apart from Ryan to do battle. Swirling his hands around into a circle, the deck of cards scrambled apart from each other and circled around with every movement being made by Ryan's hands. With a single thrust forward, the cards flew towards the Heartless like throwing knives; plenty were eliminated in a single sweep of the attack. The cards flew around, like a boomerang, into the direction of Ryan, stacking back up into a normal size deck, and gently landing into the palm of his hands. Ryan stuffed the deck back into his pockets and looked around for any more Heartless in the area. "Sometimes I wonder if your related to that one dude that plays with cards.. I don't recall his name, but he's good." Hoots landed onto his shoulder. Ryan just shrugged his shoulder. He had no clue what Hoots was talking about.
Ryan took out a single card from his deck and stared briefly at it, which showed a Heartless on the front of it. "Did you trap a Heartless inside of your cards?" Hoots asked. "Yeah, for research uses. It would prove better if I could find some more stronger Heartless. Traverse Town seems to not carry many of them strong-like Heartless." Ryan held the card to the light then stuffed it into his pocket. "Enough of standing around, let's go." The two duo went wandering around Traverse Town for something else to do. If possible, more Heartless can be another hunt for them.[/size]
